Dots & Loops visits Nepal

Updated: Mar 10, 2021

We're just back from an expedition to Nepal. For years we have been working closely with a local NGO, the Okhaldunga Nine Hill Organisation, which is active in the Sherpa region around the village of Damar. Ngima Sherpa is the founder is the heart and soul of the organisation (and a good friend of ours) and has being doing development work for years in his region around education, health, hygiene and gender equality.

Dots and Loops has been involved in several projects with the Nine Hills Association. Several years ago we fundraised enough to build a crematorium (ghat) which is very important for the funerals of locals who pass away. We've also financially supported the local nurses' salaries, equipped the orphanage with blankets/furniture and financially sponsored several students and provided locals with hygiene kits, jackets, backpacks and newborn baby kits.

We visited the region in the fall of 2018 and 2019 and on both trips we conducted Feminine Hygiene workshops and distributed our Days for Girls menstruation kits.

Most recently, we fundraised to build a new health post in the community of Chhermading in connection with the Dali Sherpa Memorial Health Centre situated in Damar.
